a mile of Puget Sound shoreline.
Tehaleh(formerly known as Cascadia)
Tehaleh is the largest Master Planned Community in Washington, encompassing approximately 4,000 acres. Located in Pierce County, the finished project will effectively become a new city with approximately 6,000 residential units, commercial, industrial, and manufacturing uses supported by parks, schools, open space and civic facilities.
ESM has been providing civil engineering and surveying services to this master planned, year-around destination resort community since 2004. Suncadia includes a core village with a hotel, spa and fitness center, three golf courses and an array of single and multi-family residential developments all nestled in the central Cascades.
This 1,350-acre master planned community successfully combines urban uses with vast amounts of open space, trails, environmentally sensitive areas, and one of the top rated private TPC golf courses in the Pacific Northwest. The community includes approximately 4,000 dwelling units, a 125-acre business park, and a 100-acre neighborhood center.
ESM provided laser scanning, modeling, survey coordination, and construction staking for the reconstruction of historic Cheney Stadium. With a very tight construction window (between the 2010 and 2011 seasons) responsiveness and accuracy were very important. The project was completed on time and the 2011 baseball season began on schedule, much to the appreciation of the Tacoma Rainiers and local baseball fans.
Egnatia Odos, Greece
This ±400-mile long toll road extends across the northern portion of Greece, from the western seaboard to the Turkish border. ESM was asked to assist in the mapping of this historic trade route using earthmine technology. We assembled the system, provided training and assisted in the collection of data on the entire roadway.
Broadway Pier, San Diego
ESM assisted the contractor with designing earthquake upgrades to this 1,000’-long cruise ship terminal in downtown San Diego. We used laser scanning to map the under-deck infrastructure including piles, caps and utilities, then used the data to create working drawings and a 3-D model for the client . Working in tight spaces and with tidal limitations were just two of the many challenges we overcame for this project.
Tacoma General, ER Renovation
ESM provided laser scanning and modeling of the MEP systems within the plenum area for approximately 13,000 sf of an active emergency room wing at Tacoma General Hospital. Field work was performed during the night shift, and limited to removing one ceiling tile per room to minimize disruptions.
ESM is providing civil engineering design and construction consultation for a new Whole Foods Market being developed in University Place, Washington. This upscale grocery store will occupy a 2.4-acre site and will provide 35,700 square feet of retail space at the ground level and an additional 35,000 square feet of parking below grade.
The Commons at Federal Way
This 80-acre regional shopping mall is going through some major redevelopment as it continues to expand and grow into becoming Federal Way’s downtown core area. With its new shops, entertainment facilities and restaurants, the Commons provides a great compliment to the adjacent, newly constructed transit facility.
Home Plate and Stadium Innovation Centers
Being located in the SoDo district and across the street from Safeco Field made construction of these office buildings quite a challenge. This entire area was filled in the first part of the 19th century, making settlement monitoring a very important part of excavation and foundation construction. ESM provided survey support throughout the entire project which resulted in almost 470,000 sf of mixed-use space in three buildings.
Intuit Data Center ESM provided civil engineering, surveying and landscape architecture services for this 271,000 sf new data center, located on 63 acres in Quincy, WA.
The Heritage plat is a 26.6-acre, single-family residential project located in King County. One of the most difficult aspects of this project was negotiating the multi-jurisdictional requirements surrounding the provision of sewer service, which included a lift station and over 3,000’ of main extension. This new neighborhood includes 86 lots and 3 parks.
Timber Creek Ranch
Timber Creek Ranch is a 93-acre project that incorporates Low Impact Development techniques, clustering, and preservation of open space to achieve a total of 290 single-family lots located in Snohomish County, between Bothell and Mill Creek, WA.
Nestled into the shores of Port Ludlow Bay, Ludlow Cove is a 55-lot, single-family detached project, developed in two phases that provides housing for year-around residents as well as vacation homes. Its prime location within a resort community and along the shores of Hood Canal, make it a wonderful destination with lots of amenities such as trails, and public beaches.
This 8-acre, 31-lot single-family residential subdivision is located in the City of Redmond, adjacent to SR-202 and overlooking the Sammamish River Valley. ESM worked with the land owner, developer and the City to overcome significant access issues and development constraints to create what will soon become a very high-end, secluded neighborhood.
